Naturescape: Grandparent & Me

FortWhyte Alive is pleased to offer a special opportunity for grandparents and grandchildren to learn about Manitoba’s natural habitats and how you can do your part in sustaining them, while participating in a variety of activities, games, and crafts. Each week will incorporate an element of biodiversity which you can add to your backyard!

2:30-4:00pm

Food: Providing a variety of food sources is the easiest way to enhance the biodiversity of your yard. In this session we will investigate the importance of pollinators as we plant a mini nectar garden in recycled hand-fashioned pots.

Outdoor Skills for Everyone

Have you ever felt uneasy about the idea of spending time in the great outdoors? Maybe it is time to become outdoor educated.Bring the whole family and build the skills and confidence you need to enjoy nature, whether it’s camping, snowmobiling, or a day out in the woods. Sessions include hands on practice. All materials are supplied by FortWhyte.

6-7:30pm

Water, water everywhere but what is safe to drink? In this outdoor skills session, we will go over the importance of clean drinking water. Learn about why we shouldn’t drink untreated water and discover a few simple ways to make the water around you safe and drinkable.
