Summer Interpreters:

We have two full-time positions available (one Bilingual and one English) for post-secondary students (History, Science, Education, Tourism, Natural Resources Management), from April 30 through until August 18th with evening and weekend rotation.
 
Summer Interpreters deliver school, youth and public programs and are involved in various summer projects. Successful applicants will have experience in working with children and youth as well as a keen interest in nature and the outdoors.

 

Summer Camp Section Coordinators:

We have three full-time positions available, starting June 4th through until August 28th.

Each Section Coordinator is responsible for the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities for a particular age group of campers: Rabbit Rangers (ages 6 & 7), EcoQuest (ages 8-10) and Fox Bay (ages 11-13). Each Coordinator develops innovative nature programming, plans and implements training sessions for volunteer counsellors and supervises them in the delivery of activities with the campers. Previous camp leadership experience is required.

 

Section Coordinator/Lifeguard & Waterfront Coordinator for Summer Camp at FortWhyte’s Lake Cargill Site:

We have one full-time position available, spending half the time as Section Coordinator for the KinderCamp and the other half lifeguarding for summer campers, ages 8 through 11, starting June 4th through until August 28th.

The Coordinator develops innovative nature programming, plans and implements training sessions for volunteer counsellors and supervises them in the delivery of activities with the 4 and 5-year-old campers. The successful applicant will also lifeguard all summer camp lakefront activities on Lake Cargill at FortWhyte, and deliver basic canoe and kayak instruction. Applicants should possess a minimum of Bronze Cross, CPR and Standard First Aid. National Lifeguard Certification is preferred as well as experience working with children in a recreational lakefront setting. Previous camp leadership and paddling experience is required.

 

Lifeguard/Waterfront Coordinator for Summer Camp at the FortWhyte Outdoor Adventure Site:

We have one full-time position available. Duties include lifeguarding all lakefront activities, mentoring volunteer counsellors and delivering basic canoe and kayak instruction for summer campers, ages 6 through 13, starting June 25th through until August 25th.

Applicants should possess a minimum of Bronze Cross, CPR and Standard First Aid. National Lifeguard Certification is preferred as well as experience working with children in a recreational lakefront setting.

 

Environmental/Grounds Maintenance (Urban Green Team):

We have one full-time position available for youth, 29 and under, starting early May through until August 25th or later if available.

This Green Team member provides maintenance and development of site trails; tree planting for carbon bluff sequestration; irrigation and weed control of native plant areas; enhancement of exhibits, lakeshore, floating docks; and varied remediation projects. Applicants ideally will have experience in grounds keeping, building maintenance and in operating handheld power equipment.

 

FortWhyte Farms Program Assistant:

We have three full-time positions available at FortWhyte Farms, which is dedicated to growing food, youth and community, starting early May until the end of August.

This individual is involved with the varied activities associated with operating a multi-dimensional farm operation including growing produce for market garden, beekeeping and operating and utilizing a greenhouse. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in horticulture, handling farm equipement and working with at-risk youth. First Nations or Métis background is a definite asset.

 

Banquet Servers in the Buffalo Stone Cafe:

Individuals will join the banquet service team for evening and weekend special functions. Duties include event set-up, food and beverage service, table clearing and cleaning and take-down. Applicants must be friendly and outgoing, possess good customer service skills and be familiar with fine food service.

This is an ideal position for a university student looking for part-time employment in the hospitality industry with carry-over potential throughout the school year.

 

Please note: Private transportation is required as there is no bus service available to FWA.
 

Wages range between $10 and $13.50 per hour.
