At FortWhyte Alive, we count on the generous support of our corporate and individual donors to maintain and develop our facilities and programs—available 364 days a year! Without this support, we quite simply would not be able to continue to offer the diverse base of public programs, social enterprise opportunities, and environmental education, to over 100,000 students and general public annually.
Please consider making an annual or monthly recurring gift as our Individual and Corporate donors featured below have, affirming their commitment to the stewardship of the world in which we live, and the long-term sustainability of FortWhyte Alive. To make a donation call Donna Boyd at 989-8352 or link to www.fortwhyte.org/makingadonation.
For seven consecutive years, students have been exposed to the blue skies of an outdoor classroom for their environmental and social sciences education field trips, made possible in part through Boeing’s support of FortWhyte Alive.
This generous, ongoing, contribution is directly linked to Boeing’s mission and values—offering support to organizations that they deem to be of integral benefit to the community.
“Our employees are very involved in the United Way, The Challenge for Life, Siloam Mission, and Children’s Hospital, and we are pleased to be able to contribute to the mission of FortWhyte Alive. We are proud to team with a nonprofit organization that will teach, shelter, nourish, motivate and inspire people for years to come”
—Willy Geary, General Manager Boeing Winnipeg
This year, in addition to programming support, the staff of Boeing ‘branched out’ and purchased a tree in the Tribute Orchard to celebrate Earth Day 2009. As part of the FortWhyte Farms program, the Tribute Orchard offers social enterprise and vocational training opportunities to marginalized inner city youth—another area of philanthropic priority for Boeing.
We are a very friendly and supportive bunch here in Financial Services at the U of M, so when my colleagues and I decided to enter the Eco-Adventure Challenge at FWA as a relay team (the first time for all of us), a buzz started to generate and our other colleagues were curious as to what the Challenge was all about. At that point, we thought it would be a great idea to go with this buzz and energy and see if we could take this endeavor one step further—fundraising for a worthy cause at FWA. Of course the most natural fit for us, being an educational institution, was the Class Act program. How wonderful to be able to support a program that promotes a hands-on educational connection with Nature … especially for children who may have limited opportunities to do so in their day to day lives. Who knows, maybe one day some of the students supported through this program will grow up to be the next great champions of the environment!
We were so delighted when through a week-long fundraising raffle our colleagues rallied around our cause and helped us raise the full amount needed to send an inner-city school on a field-trip to FWA … we even had $6.00 to spare for a congratulatory round of coffee for our team! In the end, we had a fantastic experience with the Eco-Adventure Challenge and felt wonderfully supported by our friends and colleagues here in Financial Services … with a little help from friends we really can achieve worthwhile goals!
