2010 Session Themes
All our camp programs follow a different, daily, nature-based program theme.
Games, crafts, outdoor activities, and interactions with FortWhyte’s unique exhibits combine to make a fun program that teaches campers about nature and culture…education follows enjoyment at FortWhyte camps!
Kinder Camp, Rabbit Rangers and EcoQuest all have their own, unique activities and programs that are adapted to be age-appropriate for their campers.
New for 2010, each section will have slightly different approaches to their themes - check the individual camp descriptions for more information!

August Specialty Nature Day Camps
August 3, 4, 5, and 6
All days of camp run 9:00am–4:30pm. Summer Nature Day Camp is open to campers age 6-11. Registration runs day-to-day ... perfect for families looking for a quality camp, but also looking to take some August Long Weekend time off!
August 3: The (Prairie) Dog Days of Summer
Tallgrass Prairie used to cover a huge area of Manitoba. Now, it’s hard to find. Learn all about this unique habitat, and the life of one of its cutest residents—the prairie dog!
August 4: Fantastic Forests
They clean our air. We use them to build homes. They keep us warm in the winter, and cool in the summer heat—forests are pretty fantastic! Find out just how fantastic forests are as you take the age of trees and find hidden animal homes.
August 5: Voyageur Challenge
The year is 1800. The Northwest Company is recruiting plucky young voyageurs to ferry their trade goods west from Montreal, trade for the finest furs in North America, and return with canoes laden with thier precious cargo. The advenute of voyageur life is calling—will you answer?
August 6: Down on the Farm
Visit FortWhyte Farms, harvest some food, learn more about where food comes from before it’s in the fridge. FortWhyte Farm’s expert staff will help us learn the hows, whys, and whos of life on a farm.
