Forest Friends (K-1)

Explore the forest to discover all the wonders it holds. Trees are important for so many reasons: they provide homes and shelter for animals and have more than a few uses for us human. Students will learn the basic needs of plants and animals and how they both use the forest to meet those needs throughout the seasons.

Life Beneath our Feet (2-3)

Under water and under ground there is a world to discover! A variety of creatures make these habitats home. Students will learn the various forms of water that can be found in our environment. Plus, they will explore a variety of soils found in Manitoba.

Walk on the Wild Side (4-5)

Discover the diversity of natural systems within Manitoba by investigating plants and animals in a variety of habitats. Lead your students on explorations and discoveries through forests, wetlands, lakeshores and grasslands.

Our Prairie Past (K-5)

Take a step back in time to when the bison roamed the horizon of the prairies. Explore the Carolyn Sifton trail and experience the connection between the people of Manitoba’s past and our prairie ecosystem. Visit the sod house, tipi encampment and bison mound.

Winter Programs

Welcoming Winter (K-1)


Winter for us means toques and scarves. But what does it mean for the plants and animals? This program highlights some of the pressures that animals and plants face in winter. It also explains the role of snow in the lives of Manitoba flora and fauna, and describes some methods nature uses to cope with these hardships.

Snowflake Investigations (2-4)


Investigate the importance of water to all living things. Delve into the frozen world as you compare and contrast the properties of snow and ice. Find out how animals take advantage of the snow. Take a closer look at snowflakes from different layers of a snowdrift and learn about their fascinating formations.
