FortWhyte Alive’s spring camp is back, with another week packed with friends, fun, and celebrating the natural world!
Monday, March 26: Springtime Survival Skills - learn how to keep safe on every outdoor adventure! By staying in one place, and using your gear and brains to stay warm and dry, you will be safe and sound, even if things go wrong. Learn how to avoid getting lost, and how to get found if you do!
Tuesday, March 27: Polar Proud – Though most Canadians live in the south part of our country, we are an Arctic nation! Learn more about science in the Arctic, the people who live and work there, and how animals and plants make life possible in the high north.
Wednesday, March 28: Forest Frolics - Who lives in FortWhyte’s forests? What animals have left tracks for us to find? How do forests make Manitoba a better place to live? Find out, and have fun along the way!
Thursday, March 29: Migration Magic – The spring migration is on! Look for geese, ducks, and other birds returning from their winter homes south of here. Find out if you could survive as a migrating bird, and see how the life of a bird is very similar, yet very different, than yours!
Friday, March 30: Voyageurs Toujours! – Manitoba is now in the middle of the country – but during fur trade times, this was the frontier! How did fur traders live? Was it difficult? Did anybody really get rich as a voyageur? Find out as we play voyageur games, practice trading, and try a fur trade era snack
All days of camp $30/members, $35/non-members. Winter camp is open to campers age 6-11 at the time of camp.
