Your destination for unforgettable winter experiences.
At FortWhyte Alive, we offer a slate of unique winter adventures ready for the taking.
On offer are guided snowshoe hikes, 7 km of forested trails (to explore by foot, snowshoe or ski) and Winnipeg’s highest toboggan run, which proves exhilarating for kids and adults alike.
It's not what you do that matters -- snowshoeing, skiing, or simply going for a walk in a snowy forest -- it's why you do it. You do it to try something new, feel alive, and make lasting memories with friends and family. The best part? We supply the guides, gear, hiking trails, campfires, animal tracks, aspen forests -- and even a 30-head herd of bison -- all within city limits.
You just have to get yourself here -- let us take care of the rest.

A typical day at FortWhyte Alive
A typical winter day at FortWhyte Alive... can be anything you want it to be. A day of family fun can be had by bundling up for some exhilarating runs down Winnipeg's highest toboggan hill and then hitting the trails for a hike by snowshoe. Add in a hot chocolate break and you've got an awesome day of outdoor fun.
Not up for that big a day of adventure? Grab a friend for a warm lunch overlooking a frozen lake at the Buffalo Stone Cafe, followed by a walk in our aspen forest. Bring your camera and say 'hello' to the wildlife you meet along the way.
