Alloway Reception Centre Closed for Renovation

Thanks for your patience while we undertake some renovations in our Alloway Reception Centre. The Nature Shop and Buffalo Stone Cafe will be closed during this time as well.

The Interpretive Centre, programming and all trails will remain open during our regular business hours. Regular admission fees apply.

FH&A Fall Photo Walk

Join Joseph Visser (photographer and curator of From Here and Away) and FWA's own Barret Miller on a search for autumn's most iconic images. Bring your camera and sense of adventure for this one-of-a-kind fall photography experience.

This workshop, like all our programming, is open to anyone. It is a super friendly, community based program, focused on encouraging people to tap into their creative impulses and experience something fun and interesting.

Join us as we seek out members of the fall migration, gorgeous colours, and rattle some antlers – if we're lucky we'll call over a curious buck. Cap it off by watching huge numbers of geese land on the lake and enjoy concessions, bannock, s'mores, or drinks on the deck.

As always space is limited, to maintain a high ratio and a fun time.

Thursday, October 12  5:45 pm
$20. Food and drink not included.

Register online by visiting store.fortwhyte.org or by phone at (204) 989-8355 ext 311.

Forest School – Spring 2018 Session Two

Did you know the average child spends more than 7 hours per day in front of a screen? Researchers believe that this has contributed to increased rates of both childhood obesity and prescriptions for childhood mental health problems (like ADHD).

It's time to move away from screen time, and try some green time.

The benefits of giving your child the gift of regular and repeated experiences in nature are numerous and overwhelmingly positive. With the natural environment as a our guide, FortWhyte Alive's Forest School offers child-directed, emergent and inquiry-based learning all under the guidance of a Forest School Practitioner.
