Tree Canada’s National Tree Day Celebration

National Tree Day serves as a celebration for all Canadians to appreciate the great benefits that trees provide us – clean air, wildlife habitat, reducing energy demand and connecting with nature.

Tree Canada is celebrating National Tree Day from coast to coast in cities like St. John’s, Montreal, Ottawa, Markham, Winnipeg and North Vancouver.

Winnipeg's celebration will be held at FortWhyte Alive.

Registration is required for this complimentary event


Please Note

  • Tree Canada will be providing you with the necessary tools to plant the trees (i.e. shovels and gloves), however please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes with long pants
  • Light refreshments and water will be provided
  • Please dress appropriately for the weather. This event will still happen if there are showers in the forecast
  • You will be provided with a t-shirt, which we encourage you to enjoy and wear during the event

Water Conservation Day

Water is essential to humans and nature.  Save Water!

Join us to take part in family-friendly activities to help you conserve water and reduce water pollution.

Water, Everywhere

  • Stop by our booth in the Interpretive Centre to learn tips on how to save water every day.

Toilet Leak Detector Craft

  • Make your own toilet leak detector tablets! This fun, colourful craft will help your family to conserve water by detecting silent toilet leaks.

Restricted Fishing Season Begins

FortWhyte Alive is just the spot for your favorite catch of the season. 

Fishing is restricted to Lake Cargill starting September 3 out of respect for the migrating waterfowl. Lake Cargill is stocked with perch, which are a great catch for first time anglers!

  • Begins Tuesday, September 3rd until ice fishing season begins

  • Fishing equipment rentals subject to availability
  • Clean, dry and sanitized personal equipment is welcome. Please be mindful of spreading zebra mussels or any other invasive species to our lakes.
  • Watercrafts are not available for rent after September 2.

 

 

 

Winter Wreath Workshop

Join our friends from Verde Plant Design for a winter wreath workshop. Learn the steps in crafting your own beautiful winter wreath with guidance from the experts. Get into the holiday spirit while creating a lush and whimsical holiday wreath using fresh greens and decorative items. All materials supplied.
