About the Artist:
Crystal Nykoluk (crystalnykoluk.com) grew up in a DIY house. Her folks' talented hands scattered her childhood with handmade clothing, food and furniture. Her mother was a painter and encouraged Crystal to pursue fine arts in university. It was here Crystal discovered clay and how the medium satisfied her need to build and create in the third dimension. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Fine Arts Honours Degree, Ceramic Thesis, in 2009 and has been working at the Winnipeg Art Gallery as the Ceramic Technician ever since. Crystal has taught Pottery 1 and 2 at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and maintains her practice in her studio, located in ARTlington Studios at 618 Arlington Street, Winnipeg.
