5 reasons to send your child to summer day camp

While summer might seem like a lifetime away, we all know how fast spring approaches and passes us by. Before we know it, school will be out and your kids will start asking, “What are we doing this summer?

With many options competing for your family’s time and energy, it can be hard to make a decision.

What’s best for my child?
What will they enjoy doing?
What kind of experiences do I want them to have?

There are many great day camp programs out there, but we really do believe that FortWhyte Alive day camps are extra special. Here’s why:

1. Classic Camp Experiences

Our camps involve more than just crafts and sing-alongs (though we do love those, too). Nature Day Camp includes all of the quintessential summer camp experiences — swimming at the beach, paddling in a canoe, and roasting marshmallows over a bonfire.

2. Nature, Made Easy.

For over 30 years, our camps have offered opportunities for students and teachers to re-connect and learn about nature… in nature. FortWhyte Alive is the only day camp that offers immersive outdoor experiences, like canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding, without having to leave the city.

3. Unplug from Technology

It’s no secret that today’s kiddos need time unplug from technology and reconnect with the world around them. Campers spend their day being physically active with a healthy mix of scheduled activities and free time for unstructured, outdoor play.

4. Lessons That Last a Lifetime

Not only do our campers touch, feel and experience the natural world for themselves, they take home lessons about wildlife, nature, and sustainability. Our goal is to help our campers forge a relationship with nature that lasts a lifetime.

5. Develop Life Skills While Having Fun

Our entire camp experience is structured around teachable moments — teamwork, collaboration and problem solving are all built into the mix. But your camper will be none the wiser — learning follows fun at camp!

What are you waiting for? Watch how your children blossom as they play, learn and laugh in nature — they will thank you for memories that will last a lifetime.
