Staged outdoors on FortWhyte’s beautiful lakeside plaza, the Sunset BBQ stands out as our signature fundraiser. The Sunset BBQ has earned a reputation for its unforgettable prizes, relaxed vibe, and undeniably unique setting.
To celebrate the BBQ's 30th anniversary, we're chatting with some of our community champions. First up is Ian Carpick from Rob-Lyn Financial — we caught up with Ian to ask about Rob-Lyn's community priorities.
Tell us a little about who you are.
Rob-Lyn Financial provides wealth advisory services to individuals and families as well as benefits and pension consulting to organizations. We have operated in Winnipeg for 42 years.
Tell us a little bit about the Sunset BBQ.
What sets it apart from other fundraising events? It’s completely unique. Being outside and casual sets it apart from the typical fundraising dinner. Many people are used to the typical stuffy, suit and tie fundraising dinner and this is very different. This event is always a highlight for us and our clients each year!
Why do you believe in investing in environmental education?
We support FortWhyte Alive because we believe that environmental education for young people plays an important part in shaping their development — as well as their appreciation for the community and the planet.
What would you like other supporters to know?
FortWhyte Alive is an amazing organization. Also, with a young family, I have had the benefit of sharing what FortWhyte has to offer with our two young children who love when we bike there in the summer for breakfast and a walk around to see the wildlife.
Join us for the 30th Sunset BBQ at FortWhyte Alive happening Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Get your tickets at fortwhyte.org/sunsetbbq.
