Camp Roles

Being a camp counsellor is a wonderful opportunity for youth to learn about working with children, nature training, volunteer professionalism and customer service as they begin to cultivate valuable leadership skills.

Applications Open!

Applications closed for 2024

Spend your summer days riding bikes, taking walks, swimming, and paddling with campers at FortWhyte Alive. Here at FortWhyte, camp volunteers experience the best of summer experiences while supporting environmental education.

Feel free to contact [email protected] if you have any questions about the Summer Camp Counsellor role.

New volunteer counsellors must be 14 to 19 years of age (at the time of volunteering) and able to commit to two of the weeks during the summer of 2024. For camper safety, the volunteer counsellors must be able to attend and participate in all the training days held sometime in June 2024 and screening processes deemed necessary by FWA.

Veteran counsellors do not need to complete another application or attend an interview. You will receive an email reminder regarding the counsellor training and scheduling in the middle of April.

The summer day camp programs helped me realize my passion for working with children, and led to my decision to become a teacher. I have so many fond memories of summers spent at FortWhyte and have made many life-long friends along the way.
