Camp Roles

Being a Camp Counsellor is a wonderful opportunity for youth to learn about working with children, keeping camp safe, nature training, volunteer professionalism and customer service.

Become a Camp Counsellor

Below are the instructions on how to apply to be a first-time FortWhyte Alive camp counsellor.  Please complete these three steps:

1. Print off the Reference Form and have it completed by an adult who is not a family member.

2. Use the button below to sign up!

3. Your application will be reviewed and you will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule an interview date.

The deadline for counsellor applications is Friday, June 12, 2021.

New volunteer counsellors must be 14 to 19 years of age (in 2021) and able to commit to two of the weeks during the camp period July 5 – August 27, 2021.  For camper safety, the volunteer counsellors must be able to attend and participate in all the training days held June 28 – 39 (and tentatively July 2) and screening processes deemed necessary by FWA.

Veteran Counsellors do not need to complete another application or attend an interview.  You will receive an email reminder regarding the counsellor training and scheduling in the middle of April.

Questions about the Camp Counsellor role?

The summer day camp programs helped me realize my passion for working with children, and led to my decision to become a teacher. I have so many fond memories of summers spent at FortWhyte and have made many life-long friends along the way.
