Games, crafts, outdoor activities and interaction with FortWhyte Alive exhibits combine to make it fun to learn about nature and culture.

Camps for all ages

KINDER CAMP

Kinder Camp is the perfect introduction to a summer camp experience for preschool children. Each day, campers will explore a new nature theme through hikes, crafts, and games. Kinder Campers do not participate in swimming. Children must be able to use the bathroom independently and be able to participate in full-day programming.

Age: 4 – 5 years old (must be 4 years old at camp start date)

Cost: FortWhyte Alive Members: $220/week; Non-Members: $240/week

4-day Camp weeks: (July 2-6 & August 6-9) FortWhyte Alive Members: $200/week; Non-Members: $220/week

RABBIT RANGERS

Rabbit Rangers provides full days of nature-based fun for kids entering grades one and two. Swimming, games, and arts and crafts are a part of each session. We’ll go on a voyageur canoe ride each week (weather permitting).

Age: Entering grades 1 and 2 in September 2024

Cost: FortWhyte Alive Members: $230/week; Non-Members: $250/week

4-day Camp weeks: (July 2-6 & August 6-9) FortWhyte Alive Members: $210/week; Non-Members: $230/week

Campers entering grades three to five get a taste of adventure, along with our regular roster of nature-based program themes. Activities such as swimming, canoeing, archery, and crafts are included in each session.

Age: Entering grades 3 to 5 in September 2024

Cost: FortWhyte Alive Members: $230/week; Non-Members: $250/week

4-day Camp weeks: (July 2-6 & August 6-9) FortWhyte Alive Members: $210/week; Non-Members: $230/week

FOX BAY

Adventure awaits! Kids entering grades six to eight use mountain bikes on FortWhyte’s trails, explore tipis, canoe, and kayak, and learn the importance of local ecosystems. Campers will learn enhanced paddling techniques and wilderness survival skills. Please note that all campers registering for Fox Bay must be able to ride a bike.

Age: Entering grades 6 to 8 in September 2024

Cost: FortWhyte Alive Members: $270/week; Non-Members: $290/week

Drop off

Location: RICHARDSON INTERPRETIVE CENTRE

Time: 8:00 – 9:00 am

To reach the Interpretive Centre, please pass through the Alloway Reception Centre and continue to the next building. The FortWhyte Nature Shop and the Buffalo Stone Cafe will be open at 9:00 am.

PLEASE NOTE: If families of campers would like to stay and tour the Interpretive Centre, general admission applies.

Pick up

Location:  RICHARDSON INTERPRETIVE CENTRE

Time:  4:00 – 5:00 pm

Late Pick-Up Policy: Train traffic is common near FortWhyte Alive. Please factor this in when planning your route for camp pick up. Families will be charged a late fee of $10 for each 15-minute increment after 5:00 pm.

What to Bring to Camp

  • One garbage-less lunch (nut and peanut-free) that does not require a microwave
  • Two garbage-less snacks (nut and peanut-free)
  • Rubber boots/winter boots
  • An extra pair of socks, long pants
  • Extra layer (sweater or fleece top)
  • Warm jacket, outer shell pants, light mittens, toque, neck warmer (Spring/Winter)
  • Change of clothes
  • Insect repellent & sunscreen

 

*Please dress your child according to the weather of the day to help minimize our indoor time.
