The times, they are a changin’!

FortWhyte Alive is dedicated to providing students with the highest quality environmental education in an outdoor setting. For over 30 years our programs have offered opportunities for students and teachers to re-connect and learn about Nature … in Nature. But just as Nature is ever-changing and renewing, so is FortWhyte’s School Program. Our education team has begun to re-evaluate all programs from all angles. Delivery methods, content, educational value, are all being taken into consideration. How can we make the experience of students and teachers be more memorable, more impactful, and more animated? Each student is unique, and we are rededicating ourselves to provide programming that will appeal and stimulate their lasting appreciation of the natural world on which we all depend on.

Our tradition of delivering a wide range of Science, Social Studies and Recreation Programs in English and French for Grades K-12 will continue. All programs meet learning outcomes of Manitoba Education Citizenship and Youth curricula. But the high standard we have held in the past for our programs is about to be raised. Small but meaningful changes are already in the works. Fall programs are now enhanced to connect with more Specific Learning Outcomes than previously offered. Winter Fun Days are expanding to inspire children to get out and get active during the colder months. And this Spring you can look forward to a whole suite of brand new programs!

Why would we make changes to something that has worked well for so long? The answer is both simple and compelling. Today more than ever our youth need to be equipped for the unprecedented environmental challenges that lie ahead. With its expanded natural, built, and intellectual riches, FortWhyte has the privilege and responsibility to invest them as effectively as possible to achieve a sustainable future for those who follow. That’s our Vision: Changing how you see the world. Making a world of difference.

Be on the lookout for our Spring School Brochure that will be arriving in schools early in the New Year. We are excited about the changes we are making, and we welcome you to experience them with your students.
