Hey I’m Sara, I am currently a high school student and this is my second summer working on The Farm.
Last year as a junior staff I enjoyed being outside on The Farm and getting to learn and try new things everyday.
These past couple months working here has been a bit different than last year, because of social distancing there are no new junior staff unfortunately. It seems like there is less animal chores to do having only 2 rabbits, some chickens and one cat, but more field work having less people to help do so.
"I enjoy working alongside the staff and my fellow coworkers. I have learned lots from them and had a good time while doing it."
Working here again has been another fun, yet interesting experience. I enjoy working alongside the staff and my fellow coworkers. I have learned lots from them and had a good time while doing it, they are all such amazing people and I’m glad to have got to work with them.
During the short period of time working here this summer I’ve learned many things about agriculture and animals.

At FortWhyte Farms we grow youth, food, and community.
In the garden and in the commercial kitchen youth learn about responsible land stewardship, food systems, and waste reduction as they build communication, teamwork, and money management skills. They are our most valuable ‘crop’ – youth who are engaged citizens and climate change leaders.
