Hi, my name is Simon. I like to work outside and working with my hands and I am interested in working with plants.
I like growing them and also working with animals, taking care of them which is what I do here at the farm. I also like music, working out at the gym and I like soccer. I enjoy working at the farm because what I do on the farm is what I am interested in so it is a fun place for me.
Every day I learn new things, I get to know how the food I eat is grown and learn more about the farm. I also like all the people who I work with they are really nice people.

Spending time at the farm has had an impact on me. I get to go out in the field and learn more about the veggies rather than being in the house. I have learned a lot of things about the vegetables and the animals we have here. This year some of the things are different compare to last year like fewer people working and some of the programs like carpentry are not running but it has been really fun for me.
At FortWhyte Farms we grow youth, food, and community.
In the garden and in the commercial kitchen youth learn about responsible land stewardship, food systems, and waste reduction as they build communication, teamwork, and money management skills. They are our most valuable ‘crop’ – youth who are engaged citizens and climate change leaders.
