FortWhyte Alive is excited to be celebrating a special win at the Spirit of Winnipeg Awards!
Earlier this week the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce gathered a variety of amazing local businesses and organizations for the 16th annual Spirit of Winnipeg Awards, recognizing the remarkable dedication and contributions each has made to Winnipeg.
At this year’s ceremony, FortWhyte Alive won the Environment and Energy Award!

The Environment and Energy Award “honours organizations leading the way in sustainability, renewable energy, or environmental stewardship. This award recognizes those who are making a meaningful impact by reducing their environmental footprint, adopting green technologies, or promoting energy efficiency”.
For FortWhyte Alive, that meaningful impact came from our Buffalo Crossing building, the first commercial building in Manitoba certified to the Passive House standard. By using this standard, Buffalo Crossing uses about 90% less energy than a building constructed to the National Energy Code. Learn more about Buffalo Crossing’s construction and sustainability features.
We’d also like to wish a huge congratulations to the other nominees in our category from Dueck Builders and to our friends at Compost Winnipeg who are both doing incredible things to make Winnipeg a little greener.
Congratulations to this year's Spirit of Winnipeg Awards nominees and winners!
