The summer of 2021 was a tough year in many ways. Here in Manitoba, we endured a drought, high temperatures, and sunny days, which for many subsistence farmers led to crop loss, financial loss, and a risk to local food security.
Danielle Moore was passionate about local food, sustainability and fresh water, and her legacy lives on at FortWhyte Farms, through a donation made after she lost her life in an airline crash in 2019.
This contribution helped install a new drip irrigation system, which means less water waste and more direct watering through root level water supply to the vegetables and herbs in the gardens at FortWhyte Farms. Something that Danielle would be behind 100%.
Tomorrow is Danielle’s birthday. Today, we are grateful to Danielle and her family for her gift at FortWhyte Farms.
