Celebrating Winterfest at FortWhyte Alive

Posted on February 25, 2020

Over 700 of you came to soak up the sun on an uncommonly warm February day, making the most of winter with a few of your favourite activities at FortWhyte Alive’s Winterfest.

Last weekend we celebrated the wonders of the season at Winterfest.

Two visitors posing before going down the toboggan slide.

The day included children gaining new experiences on the rink, adults embracing their inner child on the toboggan run, and loved ones making memories together in nature. We saw our community of nature-lovers enjoying an afternoon of snowshoeing, ice fishing, bannock roasting and more, all included for free with admission.

Families sitting around a fire, roasting bannock.

It was incredible to see how the community came together to make Winterfest possible. A shout out to our activity sponsors for keeping the day full of adventure:

Of course, none of this would have been possible without our dedicated volunteers. Thank you for all your hard work in making nature available to all.
